Building high-availability environments is one of our
specialties. We use the latest clustering software from Hewlett
Packard, Veritas, Oracle, Microsoft, and NSI in providing the
optimal solutions for your needs. We have years of experience in
clustering just about every type of enterprise applications,
including: Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, Informix, SQLServer, and
Exchange.

Data replication is the
first step in developing a disaster recovery solution. We’ve
worked with countless customers to develop the ideal solution to
satisfy their key business requirements. We are competent with
tools such as NSI double-take, Oracle Dataguard, Veritas Volume
Replicator, and HP Continuous Access – you’re covered, no matter
which data replication method you choose.

Over the past few years, the need to develop Disaster Recovery solutions has risen
sharply, along with the need to ship data offsite and to
cut-over an entire production environment to a hot site. With
our unique methodology, we’ve designed and implemented the right
combination of products and services to satisfy the new
requirements, from basic cut-overs to the
complex solutions in the industry. We’ll work with you to
develop the Disaster Recovery plan and extensively test it to
ensure success. To further automate the process of cutting over
to a secondary site, we use NSI Geocluster, Veritas Global
cluster Manager, HP continental cluster, and other tools.

In the 90’s, there was a trend toward building distributed
environments. Every application had its own server and storage,
to help isolate potential conflicts between applications, and
prevent hardware failures from bringing down multiple
applications at a time. This introduced a number of other
problems in managing this distributed environment. The cost of
resources to manage these environments soared and the costs of
supporting a large number of servers brought IT spending to an
all time high. To control your costs, you may wish to
consolidate multiple servers and applications onto a single
operating environment . With today’s robust and available
servers and applications that can co-exist in the same operating
environment without conflicting with one another, consolidation
is now standard practice in the industry. And when your
application components require additional resources, we can
implement tools that enable priority-based resources.
Server Partitioning: Relatively new, server partitioning enables multiple operating environments to coexist
on the same physical hardware infrastructure. Virtual
partitioning is used with VMware (or other products) on Windows
or Linux environments and HP-UX Virtual
Partitioning on HP UNIX environments. To reduce the chance of a
hardware failure bringing down multiple partitions, you can
partition HP-UX hardware to provide electrical isolations of
memory and CPU resources,. Both virtual and hardware
partitioning utilize separate operating system environments,
enabling you to run multiple versions of operating systems or
multiple kernel revisions on the same physical hardware
platforms. Each method has its place and can be used
effectively to reduce both administrative and support costs.
Virtual Partitioning enables you to share memory and CPU resources across multiple
operating environments. You can create logical server
environments that have separate operating environments but share
the same memory and CPU resources --reducing procurement,
management, and support costs. Lilien LLC has taken
advantage of this trend and has created many different solutions
utilizing virtual partitioning in both the windows environment (VMware)
and the HP-UX environment using HP vpar technology.
Hardware Partitioning (npar), for HP-UX environments,
provides for electrical isolation of memory, CPU, and IO
resources. With it, you can carve up system resources into
multiple operating environments all within the same physical
server. Should a hardware failure occur in one or more of the
hardware partitions, the remaining partitions would not be
affected.
Industry Standard Server Consolidation: We can design and implement a server environment, combining both
hardware and virtual partitions, to give you the biggest bang
for your buck functionally as well as significant costs savings
over the traditional distributed server environment.
Server consolidation is about more
than simply reducing the number of servers in your company.
Intel- based servers can reduce infrastructure complexity and
costs by consolidating applications and data. Our staff can
assist you by consolidating applications, data, servers, and
server locations.
The Intel Xeon processor MP lets you consolidate legacy
enterprise infrastructure on fewer, multi-processor-based
servers that scale to accommodate your growing business.
Well-planned application, data, server, and server location
consolidation enable your company to efficiently utilize
computing resources, reduce service management and equipment
maintenance costs, improve security, and share information in
real time to accommodate growing capacity requirements. With
Lilien LLC, you can gain real business value in this arena!
VMware builds innovative and
useful software products that leverage state-of-the-art
technology in (among other areas,) the virtualization of the x86
architecture and full hardware resource management. VMware
technology is patented and patent-pending. VMware software is
used throughout the enterprise -- from the desktop to the data
center -- to minimize the total cost of ownership (TCO) of
computing infrastructure by maximizing its manageability,
flexibility, and efficiency. By running services in virtual
machines spread across one or more PCs, VMware software helps
you save money while gaining greater flexibility and control
over your computing resources.

Backup and recovery is critical to any production environment.
The ability to protect data against hardware malfunctions or
user error is more important today than ever before. We can
develop a backup solution for you utilizing HP Data Protector or
Veritas Netbackup product suites, for a Disk-to-Tape,
Disk-to-Disk, or split-mirror-zero-downtime-backup solution.
With our extensive experience developing and building backup
strategies, and with the many tools we can use, we can help you
to design, develop, and deploy the perfect solution for your
specific needs. We can assist in asking the correct questions
and developing the correct strategy reflective of your specific
environment.
Tape Solutions: Tape-based protection offers a classic solution focused on tape
drives and libraries. Tape is the most cost effective solution
from a cost-per-megabyte perspective, and it is the only
technology (other than optical) that offers removable storage
suitable for offsite storage. Tape is best suited for doing
volume restores, with its self-describing format, no other
information is needed to recreate the files. With hardware
compression, tape backup will consume less space than the same
backup to disk. HP provides leading tape technologies including
DAT, DLT VS, SDLT, and LTO— in
a range of products, such as stand-alone tape drives,
autoloaders and tape libraries. Lilien LLC design and
installation experience includes solutions with every type of HP
library, from direct-connect to SAN-connected-tape. In the past
14 years of we have designed and installed hundreds of HP based
tape solutions.
Backup Software: Both HP Data Protector or VERITAS Netbackup offer enterprise level automated
backup functionality from the most basic to the most complex of
environments.
HP Data Protector has
been around for years, and integrates nicely into any type of
environment. With the broadest support of systems, devices, and
applications available in the industry, it has proven to be a leader in
backup functionality for most any environment.
VERITAS also
is a leader in the enterprise space with Netbackup, the perfect
fit for an environment that also includes VERITAS Volume
manager, VERITAS Cluster server, or VERITAS Volume Replicator.
Online Application Backup: Performing online backups of key
productions application can significantly shrink and/or
eliminate the overall downtime. Both HP Data Protector and
Veritas Netbackup offer agents that integrate with the entire
major enterprise applications including those from Oracle,
Informix, SQLServer, and Microsoft.
